WVLT Volunteer Appreciation Night: A Night of Fun, Gratitude, and Reflection

On a blustery winter night, WVLT volunteers gathered for our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party, hosted by

 Joppenbergh Gap Distilling. Our dedicated volunteers were treated to an evening of camaraderie, games, and a well-deserved celebration of their hard work.

A specially designed Pictionary competition revealed some surprising artistic talents and kept everyone laughing. It has been confirmed: volunteering with WVLT is never dull and the impacts are notable.

Just last year, our WVLT volunteers:

  • Removed and composted 4 tons (8,010 lbs) of invasive water chestnut;
  • Cleared 48 large trees and 37 smaller trees from trails;
  • Planted over 300 native trees and shrubs;
  • Documented more than 400 hours of volunteer service!

These efforts directly contribute to keeping our trails safe, accessible, and ecologically healthy.

Looking ahead, we invite everyone to mark their calendars for Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 26, 2025. We’ll have volunteer clean-ups, educational activities, a group bike ride, and a celebratory gathering to cap off the day in Rosendale.

Thank you again to all our volunteers—you are the heart of WVLT’s mission. If you’d like to support our work further, consider making a donation here.

And if you would like to join the WVLT Volunteer Team, please contact us here. We always need extra hands, and if you cannot do physical work but want to help out, we have other needs in our office just for you!
