Community Meeting – WVLT Educational Signage Project - Monday, August 29th at 6PM

The Wallkill Valley Land Trust (WVLT) is excited to announce a series of open forums to gather thoughts and ideas from our community around a sign project that is being developed right now. Thanks to a generous donor, we have created an interpretive signage plan to install educational panels on spaces managed by WVLT, including at Joppenbergh Mountain, and along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail that connects Kingston, Ulster, Rosendale, New Paltz, Gardiner, and Wallkill.

WVLT’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in Ulster County by conserving lands of scenic, agricultural, ecological, recreational, and cultural significance. We need help from the community to determine what topics are most important in engaging visitors to our region, and teaching visitors why these lands are protected.

What matters most to you about these protected spaces? What do you think visitors should know about our communities? What subjects do you want to learn more about?

We’re also seeking photographs, journal entries, drawings, and other materials that we could include on the signs for related topics. If you have something at home that would be exciting to add to an educational sign, please bring it or a photograph with you!

The first meeting will be held in New Paltz on Monday, August 27th at 6:00 PM

Elting Memorial Library

93 Main St, New Paltz, NY 12561

*Masks are required*

We will also be hosting a meeting Kingston this summer; details on that meeting will be shared as they are developed.

If you cannot attend a meeting, but would like to contribute topic ideas and other comments on this project, please email Robin@WallkillValleyLT.org
