In November 2001, Phyllis Noreen donated a conservation easement on 94.1 acres in the Town of Rosendale. This easement includes among other habitats, a healthy hemlock forest and a stream with associated wetlands. The easement specifically preserves open space and biodiversity. In 2013, Ms. Noreen further enhanced the protections of the original easement and also donated a second conservation easement on an additional 33.1 acres. After Ms. Noreen's passing in 2015, her life-partner William Hevessy purchased and maintains the property under easement. The two easements, now known as the Noreen-Hevessy Easements, protect a combined total of 127.2 acres in Rosendale.
