Habitat Maps & Scenic Resources

These maps are used to help identify priority lands for conservation within our organization and are available to share with other regional organizations and municipalities.

The maps are suitable for general land use planning, but are unsuitable for detailed planning and site design or for jurisdictional determinations. Boundaries of wetlands and other habitats depicted are approximate.

  • In January, 2018 the Wallkill Valley Land Trust completed a habitat mapping project for six of the eight towns in the WVLT service area (Esopus, Lloyd, Marlborough, New Paltz, Plattekill, and Rosendale). That project was funded by the Land Trust Alliance.
  • In April, 2014 habitat maps of the other two towns in the WVLT service area (Gardiner and Shawangunk) were completed as part of an inter-municipal project funded by the Hudson River Estuary Program of the NYS DEC.
  • In December 2015 the Wallkill Valley Land Trust completed a scenic resources project for their service area in southern Ulster County. That project was funded by the Hudson River Valley Greenway and the Hudson River Estuary Program of the NYS DEC.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in Ulster County by conserving lands of scenic, agricultural, ecological, recreational, and cultural significance.
