Legislature Appropriates $2.1 Million American Rescue Plan Act Funds to Improve Ulster County’s Trail Infrastructure
March 17, 2022
The Wallkill Valley Land Trust (WVLT) is grateful for the passage of a $2.1 million allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act funds to be used in improving trail infrastructure in Ulster County. For our part, $895,000 is earmarked for the land trust’s Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. The money will be used to restore a 5.45-mile corridor of the rail trail between the Village of New Paltz and the Town of Gardiner. It is to be completed by June 2023. Thank you, County Legislators! And thank you, WVLT supporters and users of the 22-mile rail trail.
PARTIAL TRAIL CLOSURE: Wallkill Valley Rail Trail at Sand Hill Road South through Denniston Road until further notice due to damage from excessive rain.
