For a second year, in partnership with the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, Shawangunk Runners present the Rosendale Runs Half Marathon and new for this year, a 6k Run/Walk on October 5, 2025. Registrations for both the ½ Marathon and the 6k Run/Walk are capped at 300, so register today: HERE
All proceeds will benefit the Wallkill Valley Land Trust, whose mission, in part, is to improve, protect, and maintain the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and the Joppenberg Mountain trails for public use and enjoyment.
“The Wallkill Valley Land Trust is a wonderful organization that helps to protect and preserve open spaces, farms, public trails & nature preserves. The Joppenberg Mountain trails and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail are tremendous assets to runners and it seemed natural for the Shawangunk Runners Club to want to help.” said Steve Schallenkamp.

The Six Bells Hotel
Experience breathtaking scenic views around every bend amid the incredible Hudson Valley fall foliage. A mostly flat course on the well-groomed Wallkill Valley Rail Trail with two short sojourns off the Rail Trail to add a little spice and provide just enough challenge to offer a sense of accomplishment.
Rosendale provides a beautiful venue for Shawangunk Runners 7th edition of the Rosendale Runs Half Marathon and 6k Run/Walk. Visit the charming, quirky & cool Village, once the home of the world-famous Rosendale Cement Company and now a thriving center of the arts. Rosendale boasts a charming downtown with colorful Victorian storefronts housing unique boutiques and eateries. It’s a close-knit community with a strong sense of local spirit, welcoming visitors with a friendly atmosphere.
Run across the Rail Trail that made the National Rails to Trails Conservancy’s top ten- list of most “iconic rail trails”. You will cross over the 146-year-old historic Rosendale Trestle bridge, sitting 150-feet above and extending 940-feet across the Rondout Creek. When it opened in 1872, it was the highest-spanbridge in the United States. The Wallkill Valley Land Trust acquired the trestle and 12 miles of railbed in 2009, and carried out, in partnership with Open Space Institute, a 4 year, $1.5M restoration of the historic bridge, opening up to pedestrian use in 2013. The Land Trust still owns and maintains the trestle and Rosendale/Ulster sections of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail.

The 2025 Rosendale Runs events will take you alongside scenic lakes and through a “cave” at the Williams Lake Project. Come experience the dramatic scenery of the enchanting Town of Rosendale that helped build the Brooklyn Bridge with its natural limestone cement.
“This is our second race event in partnership with Shawangunk Runners on our Rail Trail,” WVLT Executive Director Christie DeBoer shared. “And we are delighted and grateful to have the professional running club, Shawangunk Runners, leading it!”
Shawangunk Runners are committed to keeping race fees affordable for all. The registration fee is only $30 and includes a T-shirt. All registrations must be completed online.
Gender-specific t-shirts are guaranteed to all who register by Sept. 15. There will be plentiful refreshments, raffle prizes, a finisher’s medal, and unique awards in all standard 10-year age groups by Christopher Regan.
