Upstate Concierge: The Key to Simplifying Life in the Hudson Valley

In the scenic Hudson Valley, where a surge of new residents is seeking the tranquility of country living without sacrificing convenience, Upstate Concierge is stepping in as the essential service for a more seamless life. Tish Osborne, the founder, is a veteran of corporate problem-solving with a deep love for the region, and a lifetime resident of the Hudson Valley.  The business focuses on three core areas — home, personal, and business services — all unified by a single, powerful mission: to simplify people’s lives.

Osborne, who holds a master’s in business and decades of corporate experience, has focused on guest experience and customer success, but didn’t start her company on a whim. She has spent years trying to figure out the exact business that would fill that real need around hospitality and business combined.

“The bottom line is simplifying people’s lives,” Osborne explains. “With a vast increase in newcomers in our area,  particularly in Ulster and Dutchess counties, I recognized a significant gap in available high-touch services for a more discerning clientele.”

Bridging the Gap for Homeowners

The impetus for Upstate Concierge came from Osborne’s personal experience and from observing the challenges faced by new second homeowners. “They’re trying to manage projects from afar, and that proves very challenging,” she says.

The home and personal offerings are closely aligned to the person or family’s needs and designed to take the stress out of managing a property remotely or while acclimating to a new area. This is often a move from a city to a more rural setting. A few of the main services provided include:

  • Home Watch: Ensuring properties are secure and maintained, especially during off-season.
  • Provisioning: Stocking the kitchen and home with essentials before the client arrives.
  • Vendor Coordination and Project Management: Guiding clients through renovations and repairs.

Osborne’s personal experience as a property owner who has designed and built her own house, managed numerous renovations, and cultivated complex outdoor viewsheds gives her a unique edge. She doesn’t just hire a contractor; she helps clients sort out their vision before they are ready to engage an architect and begin their project.

“I have a lot of experience with creating outdoor spaces as well as view sheds,” she notes, highlighting her focus on sustainability and a deep connection to the land. This expertise is further underscored by her role as the treasurer for the local sustainability organization, Wild Ones (Mid Hudson Valley chapter), which focuses on native planting and education.

The Value of Trust and Connection

One of Upstate Concierge’s most significant unique points is trust and connection. Osborne leverages her lifelong ties to the area and her innate ability to connect people. She’s been coming to the Hudson Valley her whole life — a “weekendender” turned local — giving her an invaluable network of reliable people to draw from for specific tasks and larger projects..

“I’ve always been known as a people connector,” she says. “I have people I trust and have worked with for many years.”

In a region where high-quality vendors are extremely busy, Osborne acts as the crucial intermediary, setting expectations and guiding the project, resulting in a great experience for both the client and the vendor. She even considers personality — matching clients with vendors based on whether they prefer a hands-on, consultative approach or a quick, no small talk professional.

Time is Valuable

The overall value proposition of Upstate Concierge is simple: Time is valuable.

“I can take the stress out of your days and weeks,” Osborne says. “Whether it’s provisioning a house with ‘the best tomatoes’ so a client doesn’t have to rush through a grocery run on a Friday afternoon or taking the stress out of a major home project, our services are about making life simpler and more enjoyable.”

From her corporate background in resuscitation technology, where she worked for Phillips Healthcare helping corporations and schools procure life-saving AEDs, to her time in the tech industry with Cisco, Osborne has always been in the business of helping people solve problems. This passion, combined with her love for the Hudson Valley — a place she describes as “magical”— is the engine behind her business.

For Osborne, Upstate Concierge is the natural evolution of her career. She saw a need for service, convenience, and expert local guidance, and she built the business to meet it. Her goal is to ensure that the new lifelong residents, building and staying in the beautiful Hudson Valley, experience everything they dreamed it would be.
